In July our Youth are studying Ordinances and Covenants

Hello Hawes Ward

We challenge each of you to take advantage of the added measure that comes from preparing for each week's lesson and for helping your youth prepare for their lessons in July on Ordinances

Ordinances

"It is priesthood authority in the Church that provides for sacred ordinances and covenants that bind families together and qualify each of us to return to God the Father and Jesus Christ in the celestial kingdom.
These ordinances bring peace because they are covenants with the Lord."

—Quentin L. Cook, "Personal Peace: The Reward of Righteousness

"During the Lord's postmortal ministry, the higher ordinances of exaltation were revealed. He has provided for these ordinances in His holy temples. . . .
Our Master is a God of law and order. His focus on ordinances is a powerful part of His example to us."

—Russell M. Nelson, "The Mission and Ministry of Jesus Christ

16-18 Year Old Sunday School Review

Outline: How do I keep my covenant to always remember the Savior?

We discussed the significance of the sacrament and the covenant we made at baptism and renew during the sacrament each week to always remember the Savior.  We discussed scriptures and teachings of Elder Holland regarding how to keep this covenant.

The Challenge was extended for class members to take some time today to think about the Savior and choose a goal of something they can do every day this week to remember the Savior.

Lesson 24: “Be Not Deceived, but Continue in Steadfastness”
Doctrine and Covenants 262843:1–75052:14–19

Here are some of the forces that Satan applies to us:
  • Misunderstanding of the role of the Prophet
  • Worldliness (in particular business, political, and financial scheming)
  • Looking beyond the mark
  • Unhealthy spiritual experimentation
  • Intellectual pride

We get to choose to build our lives on the sands of deception or on the rock of truth.
Let us all accept the Lord’s tender invitation:
“I am the good shepherd, and the stone of Israel. He that buildeth upon this rock shall never fall.”23

Lesson 25: Priesthood: “The Power of Godliness”
Doctrine and Covenants and Church History Class Member Study Guide, (1999), 14–15
Reading assignment: Doctrine and Covenants 84:33–44
107121:34–46Our Heritage, pages 26–27
The Aaronic Priesthood and the Melchizedek Priesthood were restored to the earth in the spring of 1829. Following the organization of the Church in 1830, the Lord gradually revealed priesthood offices, quorums, and councils as needed to provide leadership for the growth of the Church.
What do priesthood holders promise as part of the oath and covenant of the priesthood? (See D&C 84:33, 36, 39–44
.) What blessings does the Lord promise as part of the oath and covenant of the priesthood? (See D&C 84:33–34, 38, 42
In D&C 121:34–46 , the Lord reveals principles for using the priesthood. In addition to their application to priesthood holders, these principles apply generally to all human relationships. How can we apply these principles as we interact with others?
