Happy Rainy Friday Hawes Ward!

Message for this week:

"Love can overpower the undermining effect of selfishness. Love engenders faith in Christ's plan of happiness, provides courage to begin the process of repentance, strengthens the resolve to be obedient to His teachings, and opens the door of service, welcoming in the feelings of self-worth and of being loved and needed."

We had a great discussion on what makes up the atonement and what a wonderful gift it is.

We discussed that without it, we would be unable to return to our Heavenly Father.
We looked in the topical guide to
find scriptures that help us better understand the atonement, and read and discussed some of the scriptures that the youth found.
We watched
the video "Reclaimed" that helps us understand that because of the atonement, there is always a way to recover from our mistakes and move
forward.

The youth were challenged to learn more about the atonement
using the topical guide or "True to the Faith". They were also reminded to continue looking for someone they can invite to the Easter pageant or another church activity.

This week we will be discussing what a tangible and intangible thing is.
We will discover how to teach someone about an intangible thing such as faith, repentance, love, the Atonement of
Jesus Christ.
We will discuss Elder Packer's teaching tool that we can use to teach about intangible principles.
We will list and practice comparisons and objects we can us to teach intangible principles.

Finally we will extend our challenge to teach a friend about the atonement and invite a friend to the Easter Padget.

“Behold I say unto you that ye shall have hope through the atonement of Christ” (Moroni 7:41).

The outlines in this unit will help the youth learn how to search the scriptures and words of the living prophets to strengthen their faith in Jesus Christ and His Atonement. You will have the opportunity to help the youth gain stronger testimonies of the Atonement and more confidence in their ability to teach it to others. Encourage them to ask questions about what they are learning, to seek to learn more, and to share with others what they discover.

Outline: What can the scriptures teach me about the Atonement of Jesus Christ.

We studied and discussed scriptures about the Atonement that class members found through the topical guide, or remembered reading before, that were significant to them.  We also discussed how these principles apply to us and how to put them to use in our life.

The challenge was extended to take time to study the scriptures this week, focusing on searching scriptures about the Atonement and to come to class with a new scriptures they will have found that impresses them.
